THREE brave children, a tireless charity worker and dedicated animal refuge workers are among those to receive some Chriatmas cheer as part of our Wish for Christmas campaign.
Courageous little Connor Dixon has had to endure numerous operations in his short life but was delighted to receive an early Christmas surprise care of Cumbrian Newspapers and campaign sponsors Warburtons.
He started treatment at two weeks old, and has spent much of his life with his feet in casts, as well as wearing a helmet to correct the shape of his head.
Andrew Taylor, 10 and his brother Sean, 14, of Penrith, who recently lost their sister in a tragic road accident were also recognised in our Wish for Christmas campaign.
Their world was turned upside down when their sister Michelle was killed in a car accident in October just yards from their home. The brothers have been helping their parents to cope, and neither asked for much this year.
But an unexpected nomination from their aunt Maxine Veitch brought a smile to their faces, at what would otherwise have been a very dark time of year.
Margaret Stewart, a devoted member of the Church of Scotland in Carlisle, was overwhelmed when she was given a bouquet of flowers and a festive hamper. Mrs Stewart, who underwent a hip operation this week, was nominated by church members for her untiring work for charity.
They were nominated by Christine Taylor of Carlisle, who wrote: “The staff put all their love and attention into caring for the animals and making sure they get new homes.
